Headroom

Terms of Service

Effective April 13, 2026

1. About Headroom

Headroom is a pre-production management platform for film crews, operated by John Schmidt (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms govern your use of headroom.pro and any related applications (the “Service”).

The Service is currently in beta. Features may change, be removed, or be unavailable without notice. We do not offer any uptime guarantees during the beta period.

2. Access and Accounts

Access is by invitation only. You may not share your account or access credentials with anyone else. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must provide a valid email address and keep it current. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

3. Your Data

You own the production data you create in Headroom: scenes, shots, images, notes, briefs, flags, and all other content you upload or generate. We do not claim any ownership over it.

You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We will not sell your data or use it to train AI models.

You can export or delete your data at any time via Settings. You can request full account deletion by emailing john@headroom.pro. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

Your Library has a storage limit. Deleted stills stay in Recently deleted and still count toward that limit until you empty it, so you can always make room by emptying Recently deleted or by removing stills for good. We may change the limit over time. If we ever lower it, everything you have already stored stays.

Items in Recently deleted may be removed permanently after 30 days.

If you do not sign in for 12 months we may archive the media stored in your account. We will email you first, and archived media can be restored on request.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the Service
  • Copy, reproduce, or replicate the Service’s design, features, or functionality for competitive or commercial purposes
  • Use the Service to distribute spam or malicious content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ data

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Intellectual Property

The Headroom platform, brand, and all associated software are owned by John Schmidt. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights in the platform to you. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works based on the Service’s design, features, or source code without our prior written consent.

6. Fees and Payment

The Service is currently free during the beta period. We will give reasonable notice before introducing any paid tiers. If you choose to subscribe to a paid plan, additional terms will apply and will be presented at that time.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of production data.

We strongly recommend exporting a JSON backup of your project data regularly via Settings → Your Data.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your data remains exportable for 30 days before deletion.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the in-app notification bell or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, these Terms are governed by the laws of Italy and applicable EU regulations, including the GDPR. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Italy.

If you are located outside the EU/EEA, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
